The art piece story:

This Ways of Life piece is about presence — when someone is physically here, but mentally elsewhere, and the ones who love us feel it first. It is a portrait of presence and absence: that quiet distance that can appear in the middle of an ordinary moment.

A young man sits wrapped in warm colour, holding a wax‑fabric pillow like an anchor. His gaze drifts beyond the room, while his dog looks up at him, ready to play — attentive, patient, and quietly insistent. The scene becomes a small domestic theater where affection meets silence, and where what is not said takes up space.

On the wall behind him, fragments of an inner archive appear: echoes of Self‑portrait 1 and Temptation 1 surface like memories pinned in the background. A Bird of Salvage — this time quoting Waterfall I — watches over the scene near three books titled Noche, Planet, and Letter, a poetic trilogy of night, world, and message — what we carry, what we orbit, what we never quite send (references to pianist Sofiane Pamart's books).

Rather than telling one specific story, the painting holds a familiar state of mind: being there without fully being there — and the tender hope that presence can return.
