The art piece story:
Love II — A Poetic Extension
In this intimate 18 x 24 cm acrylic piece, Axelle Salvage continues her exploration of love's essence through a focused meditation on elements from her larger work Love. While the original piece delves into the complex narrative of love and trust, Love II distills these emotions into their pure visual poetry.
The painting captures the dynamic interplay between passion and tenderness, represented through bold purple tulips and soft pink petals dancing across a luminous yellow backdrop. This background, characteristic of the original Love, radiates the same warmth and optimism, creating a space where emotions can float freely like the scattered orange orbs that punctuate the composition. The purple tulips stand proud and definitive, their deep hue suggesting the nobility and depth of genuine emotion, while their detailed brushwork reveals the complex layers within love itself. The floating spheres in orange and blue add a surreal quality that has become signature to Salvage's work. This dreamlike element aligns perfectly with her artistic mission of blurring the lines between reality and dreams, awakening lingering sensations in the viewer.
As part of the Emotional Realms collection, Love II doesn't seek to tell a complete story but rather captures a singular emotional state — a moment of contemplation about love's ethereal nature. The composition demonstrates how even in smaller formats, Salvage maintains her ability to create works that invite reflection and emotional resonance. The piece serves as a beautiful complement to the original Love, offering viewers a more intimate perspective on the theme. While the larger work explores love's complex narrative through symbolic figures and animals, this focused allows us to dwell in the pure feeling of the emotion itself, expressed through the universal language of flowers and abstract elements.
