Bird IX — Watercolor Painting by Axelle Salvage | 2025

€125.00

Bird IX continues the chromatic exploration of the Birds of Salvage series with a similar yet distinct interpretation of the beloved Pippin-inspired character. Rendered in the same green and pink palette as its sibling Bird VII, this piece offers a slightly different perspective and energy.

The watercolor medium's inherent fluidity is masterfully employed here, with colors bleeding into one another to create organic transitions between the mint-green body and vibrant pink accents. The characteristic yellow beak and expressive eye anchor the composition, while spontaneous splatters and drips add an element of joyful spontaneity that captures the essence of the watercolor process itself.

Artistic Significance: As part of a series exploring the same character through different chromatic lenses, Bird IX demonstrates how subtle variations in composition and color application can create entirely new emotional narratives. While sharing DNA with Bird VII, this piece carries its own distinct personality — perhaps more exuberant, more celebratory in its upward-reaching pink flourishes.

Mix on paper (300g/m2).

This piece is mounted with a mat board.
